This project was the improvement of the Barker Ranch main canal. The canal was an open, unlined canal in which large diameter pipe, flow control structures with flow control gates, and telemetry were installed to improve water loss and water flow control. The pipe installation included supply and installation of 15,800 feet of 60” and 54” diameter Duromaxx Pipe and backfill of the existing canal. The upper most part of the canal improvement included a modification to the existing intake structure at the head of the canal adjacent to the Yakima River. The entire project location was culturally sensitive and was included in a hydraulic permit with very stringent contract time requirements for inwater work. Completion times were critical for the irrigation season and operation of the Barker Ranch operation.
